Do I need prior experience to join Seaside Heights?
No prior experience is required! If you want to give back to your community in this meaningful and exciting way, join us! You will learn all you need to know through free, comprehensive training and the mentorship of experienced members.
I’m only in Seaside Heights during the summer. Can I still volunteer?
Yes! Our call volumes go up during the summer, so seasonal volunteers are needed and welcomed. Many of our summer season volunteers are certified firefighters who respond with a mainland fire department at other times.
Is this a paid position?
No, this is a volunteer position. However, our volunteers benefit from a wide array of membership incentives including tax credits, a stipend, beach passes, and more. Read more on our Why Volunteer page under Incentives.
I want to support the fire department but I don’t want to fight fires or rescue people from the water. Are there other ways to serve?
There are many non-emergency ways to serve with Seaside Heights Fire Department! We need help with fundraising, events, community education and events, and administrative and other business skills. In fact, whatever your talents and interests, we can put them to good use!
